Here are the two most common journeys. ## ISO certification (ISO 27001, ISO 9001, and other ISO standards) ISO certification runs on a three-year cycle: an initial certification audit, annual surveillance audits, and recertification at the end of the cycle. 01 ### Application Once you are prepared, we complete and submit your certification application to the certification body. 02 ### Stage 1 audit The auditor reviews your management system documentation and overall readiness, and flags anything still outstanding. 03 ### Corrective action You have up to three months to close any gaps raised. We help you complete them, and the auditor validates the corrections 04 ### Stage 2 audit The auditor assesses how your management system works in practice. 05 ### Corrective action You again have up to three months to resolve any remaining findings, which the auditor then validates. 06 ### Certificate issued The auditor issues your ISO/IEC certificate ## Staying ISO Certified In years one and two of the cycle, the certification body carries out a surveillance audit: you maintain your management system, the auditor reviews it, you complete any corrective action, and your certificate continues. In year three, recertification renews your certificate for the next cycle.
